Chinese Community Church of South Bay Christmas Celebration Program 2014
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas again! To continue our church tradition of celebrating the birth of Christ and to provide Community Service around this time of the year, the Chinese Community Church of South Bay will be having the following program this year.
Our Christmas Celebration Program this year kicked off with Operation Christmas Child on Friday, November 14,2014. This is our annual community service project in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. Supported by the Children’s Program and the Youth Group of our church, we gathered to pack shoe boxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies in order to tangibly demonstrate God’s love to a child in need. Over 100 people attended this event, generating about 60 shoe boxes filled with gifts.
Also as part of our community service project, we will be supporting Torrance Memorial Hospital’s Premier Holiday Festival fundraising event at 10 am on December 6, 2014. The Chinese Community Church of South Bay choir will be performing the “Candle and Caroling” program under a giant 25,000-square-foot-tent raised in Torrance Memorial’s employee parking lot, where the Torrance Memorial Holiday Festival will be held. Come join us for our choir performance, other live performances, and viewing of the beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Free admission to this event for the general public on December 6. See pictures above for our choir performance and some of the dazzling Christmas trees from last year’s event.
Jesus told us to love each other and remember the needs of our brothers. (“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” – Matthew 25:40). We hope to bring some extra joy and peace to those who are physically weak at this time of the year and show love to them through our songs. So our church choir will be performing the “Candle and Caroling” program at the Heritage Rehabilitation Center on S. Vermont Street in Torrance on December 13, 2014 and at the Bay Crest Care Center on Barnet Street in Torrance on December 14, 2014. Please pray that, through our caroling, we’ll remind those who attend these events the eternal plan God has for all of us and help them build a deeper relationship with God.
The Christmas Celebration program at our own church will be held at 7:30 pm on December 20, 2014 (Saturday) and a repeat performance at 2:30 pm on December 21, 2014 (Sunday). So let’s remember what Christ has done for us and come celebrate His birth with us this year (click here for one of last year’s performance songs). There will be worship by singing, a choir performance, a special Christmas message from our pastor, refreshments, and fellowship with each other. So help us spread the word by sharing this blog on your Social Media sites by clicking the icons below. And besides running around and buying Christmas gifts, hanging lights on roofs, and trimming Christmas trees, please make sure that you spend some time to personally invite your friends and neighbors, Christian or not, to join us for this celebration event. It may be the best gift that you can give them, ever.
